About Me
Welcome to my blog and thank you for taking the time to read and comment on the posts. Here is a little about me:
I was born in Boulder Colorado and raised in the Unity movement by my incredible parents Rev. Jack & Norma Groverland, ministers at Unity of Boulder. Their teachings and living example launched my spiritual journey at a very early age with meditation, prayer, service & music.
Although it wasn't until someone anonymously mailed me the book Way of the Peaceful Warrior, age at 15, that I really claimed my spiritual path to be my own and not just something that was handed down to me from my parents. This was one of the big turning points in my life and this blog will chronicle many of the others.
After graduating from Boulder High School I went on to get my Bachelor of Science degree in Sound Engineering from the University of Colorado. This degree empowered me to move to Los Angeles and pursue my childhood dream of mixing and editing sound for feature films, which I did for four years.
As career dreams often due, I was eventually let down by what the day to day requirements of the position entailed and looked to move on. I was now married with a new born and decided that I would move to Las Vegas and return to doing live sound, like I had previously done for many years at my parent's church.
Thirteen years in Las Vegas and I rose to the highest position an audio engineer could have in the MGM Resorts corporation, but I was beginning to feel a strong call to once again move on. With such a great job, it was very difficult to consider doing something else, so I ignored it and pushed it aside as much as possible. But the universe had something else in mind.
A series of painful life events culminated in a ski crash that left my left foot shattered, forcing me to stay home and sit with my own consciousness for a couple months. This is when I could no longer quiet the call that was now very clearly pulling me towards ministry. I had not wanted to consider ministry before because that was my "dad's thing," but at least now I was open to the possibility and started taking classes at Unity Village.
Those classes insured I was heading in the right direction and I later enrolled in the Unity Urban Ministerial School to complete my seminary training and be ordained in 2016. I am now fully living my call as the minister of Unity of Las Vegas with my amazing daughter Ahna and wife Erinna. The spiritual journey continues and the lessons just keep coming, so I hope you enjoy reading them.
- Blessings to you
